The Voice of CCNU At the beginning of this term, the students from College of Physical Science and technology received a letter written by the students of Wuhan Xinzhou District No.4 Middle School, which conveyed their sincere gratitude. It said: “Thanks for the volunteers from CCNU who assisted with our studies as well as answered the questions during the winter holiday, thank you for the hard-work!”

For the duration of this winter vacation, there were 242 students from College of Physical Science and Technology in total, who offered help to students of Wuhan Xinzhou District No.4 Middle School then carried out an online tutorial class which lasted 25 days. They were there to provide help for these middle school students through various methods, including supplement knowledge, key points summary, replies for the questions as well as the experience sharing.
The Xinsi District No.4 Middle School is considered to be a middle surrounding by the paddies, which points that it is the only key high school that is remote from the town center in Wuhan. As the school having existed for 60 years, the teachers of Xinsi District No.4 Middle School rooted themselves at this village and resisted to provide high-quality education for the students from the country. Simultaneously, taking full advantage of the normal school and offering service for the regional elementary education are a sort of meaningful practice as well as a mission for the students from CCNU. After the release of the announcement of the recruitment, the students signed up actively. After the suitable ones have been selected, the volunteers were divided into different groups for the one-on-one tutoring, in order to accomplish this task with the highest quality. Following that, the participants contacted their students rapidly and made specific learning plans in accordance with their learning conditions, finally the online classes began.

However, there were often some of the problems our volunteers would face during this process---- for instance, some students were always late for the appointments, someone rarely participated in the lessons and some could not get across the explanations given by the volunteers. Though had met these kinds of situation, our students did not give up or give in. They tried other trains of thought to make their students understand, and if their students were not punctual or not able to study spontaneously, they would made communications with them through QQ or the calls. Finally our volunteers and their students could cooperate with each other, get along well with each other and make progress together with their patient instruction as well as understanding.
Li Yaxuan, a student who has joined as voluntary teachers for several times, said: “I am proud of myself as I took part in this activity and provided assistance to the children in need, which was able to show my value. And I hope that I can keep work as a volunteer with my faithful heart.” Another participant Wei Jinhui also indicated her point of view: “I got a sense of achievement since I chose to do something worthwhile and meaningful at my leisure. At the same time, I felt I have grown up from the process of giving others a helping hand.”
