The Voice of CCNU “We are living in the campus, where safety problems are supposed to be serious.” The activity which was called “Safety Education in the CCNU” was held in the grove in the east district simultaneously in front of the dinning hall of Nanhu on the morning of 6 December. This activity was held by security office and the Communist Youth League Committee of CCNU and was taken by CCNU, with the assistance of the Student Union of College of Urban and Environmental Sciences as well as School of Psychology.
In this event, traditional lecture was given up, and more acceptable teaching method was taken, which aimed to popularize knowledge of security and to make the lives in the campus rather colourful.
This event in the main campus was held in the grove in the east district, which was divided into 2 parts----original works exhibition and campus safety assembly. Moreover, the second part contained a series of experiences including quiz about safety, distinction of security signs and lively experiences. Students were able to gain points during the quiz and exchange them into some gifts from the service desk. Meanwhile, the participants of the distinction ought to pick table tennis balls that was printed with fire control signs by using chopsticks from the basins. Apart from that, players of the experiences could try firefighter uniform as well as the fire control facilities such as fire extinguishers. Besides, the fire put out experience and the simulated smoky event have also attracted large number of people, a lot of students could not wait to take part in.
The instructor working in the security office was present this activity for guidance at 11a.m. Fu Yiwei conveyed his extremely positive attitude towards the enthusiasm of students also the variety of the games. At the same time, he pointed out some of the oversight, which made the activity more practical.
In front of the canteen of Nanhu, plenty of students were also appealed by the vibrant atmosphere. Except these mentioned games, there was another experience named “rescue from the fire”orienteering match. The players needed to learn the distribution, categories and number of the fire control equipment within 30 minutes. Then each group would send one person to join the quiz, and the participants who were able to give 6 correct answers in 90 seconds could obtain a badge. The questions about anti-swindle, fire control, personal safety and the common sense in our daily lives were all contained in the test. Furthermore, in the north of the court, there was a show which exhibited poems and paintings about anti-swindle as well as fire control.
Through this activity, the cooperation of two schools improved the participation of the activities and made more students get to know the safety problems that should be kept an eye on in the campus.
