On the afternoon of 11, December, the 20th employment class named as “choose my pursuit, choose what I am good at, be satisfied with my choices and accomplish my aspirations” was held online on Tencent Meeting. This lecture was given by Zhongshan Daojie (the national backbone teacher as well as the senior teacher of high school) and held by Undergraduate Admission and Employment Office and the Development Center of School of Mathematics and Statistics. This activity aimed to spread the knowledge of employment, clear and resolve the difficulties that students met during job-hunting and provide employment instruction. This event was hosted by Xie Ding (an instructor for junior students).

Initially, Zhong Daojie expressed his love to the CCNU at the beginning of this meeting, which eliminated the sense of strangeness between students and himself. Then, when it came to the question of the self-abasement to the education background of some of the students, he pointed out that we cannot be defined by our backgrounds, and what is important is hard work which would accomplish our goals. Afterwards, to justify his perspectives, he gave the example of the choice of Zhong Fangrong (a student from Department of Archaeology of Peking University) and the success of Zhang Ji (a doctor graduated from Huazhong University of Science and Technology). By these typical examples, he expounded the accessible concept of self-identify as well as the future construction.

Following that, Zhong Daojie summarized four common mistakes of our job-hunting, which are “outsider syndrome”, “lonely knight syndrome”, “searching under the light” and “I’m willing to do everything”. He illustrated the awkward situation that the students encountered when they are looking for jobs through his humorous and brief stories, which made the class rather interesting and novel. Mr. Zhong told us: “We must be initiative during the process of employment, instead of waiting passively. The realm of teaching is unlimited, it still needs us to explore and introspect.”

Furthermore, Zhong Daojie conveyed his great requirements as well as anticipation of teachers, and demonstrated his idea of four characters that teachers ought to possess, which are aspirations and conviction, noble virtue, sufficient knowledge and love for everyone. Teachers are far more than carriers of spreading knowledge, but the source of values. Though their capacity is important, what attaches its extreme significance is the values of tutors. Their profound learning is able to gain respect from students and colleagues as well as relief of the students’ parents. Moreover, love is the basis of education and the motivation of cultivation.
