Piloting the Way, Looking to the Future: The Eighteenth Phase of Lecture on Employment Held Successfully

On the night of December 6th, the eighteenth phase of lecture on employment sponsored by the Department of Enrollment and Employment of CCNU and undertaken by the School of Information Management was held in room N301 in the multi-function building of Nanhu. Peng Cheng, excellent alumnus of the School of Information Management of grade 2009 and the human resource manager of the Wuhan research and development center of the Yuan Guang Software Limited-liability Company, was invited to make a sharing on “how to take the express of employment”. Jiang Keming, Secretary of Youth League Committee and counselor of grade 2017 and grade 2020, Lu Wang, counselor of grade 2018 as well as more than 180 undergraduates and postgraduates of the School of Information Management attended the lecture. The activity was hosted by Jiang Keming.

 

                                               

The honored guest, Peng Cheng started the lecture from the six qualities for successful employment. He said that the attitude to life, the ability to learn, self-motivation, teamwork, communication and expression as well as the plan for career were significant factors which determined whether a person could succeed in job hunting. Peng Cheng then introduced his cognition of his school years with his own experiences in a humorous way and emphasized that students should strive to cultivate the six qualities for successful employment according to their personal characteristics. After that, he put forward the detailed problems on different stages of employment which were worth attention and shared explicit suggestions. In the part of delivering resumes and preparing for the interview, Peng Cheng reminded everyone to make full preparation, prepare the resumes carefully and cultivate the concept of time to avoid low-level mistakes. Before the interview, students were supposed to learn from the previous experience of others, collect information, fully acquaint with the company in advance and find suitable positions in the company according to their own needs and abilities. When it came to the inevitable problems in the process of employment, he hoped that students could make psychological preparation before employment and avoid being discouraged if they were rejected. Particularly, people were prone to anxiety under the influence of others. Students should learn to control their own negative emotions and actively encourage themselves. At the end of the sharing, Peng Cheng mentioned that,When it comes to job hunting, there’s no distinction between good ones and bad ones. The difference of jobs only lies in whether they are suitable for you or not. Everyone is different and everyone is born to be useful. Different people are destined to be suitable for different jobs. As long as the professional qualities are excellent and the attitude to occupations is correct, everyone can shine brilliantly in the position which is suitable for you.”

 

 

After the sharing, Peng Cheng further communicated with students on the spot and answered their questions. Liu Ao, undergraduate of grade 18 asked Peng Cheng how to regard the inconsistency between the internship position and the final employment position. Peng Cheng said that the internship was a process of continuous trials. In this process, students could find their own suitable and interesting careers. Enterprises chose and evaluated people mainly from their professional abilities for the positions which they applied for, but not just paid attention to the major which they specialized in. He also encouraged students to actively look for suitable internship positions during the undergraduate period and constantly accumulate professional abilities. Jiang Keming also asked Peng Cheng to introduce the differences between the autumn recruitment and the spring recruitment. Peng Cheng gave detailed answers to all the questions.

 


The lecture on employment provided a stage for students to get a profound understanding of the matters which were worth attention in the process of delivering resumes before employment, the preparation before the interview, the employment standards of enterprises to investigate staff and some other knowledge related to employment. He also answered students' doubts about employment, helping students make better preparation for employment and make their own plans for careers.
