November 30, 2020 Huang Jieyu

The Voice of CCNU The activity “lunchtime with professors” which was launched by the Student Union of School of Psychology was held successfully in the No. 8016 and No. 8030 classroom of Teaching Complex Building in Nanhu Campus at 12 p.m. on 16th November. 6 professors and tutors in total attended to this activity who were Su Xiaogang (Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee), Zhao Qingbai (Vice President of School of psychology), Liu Qinxue (the headteacher of freshmen), Cheng Liang (the headteacher of freshmen), Du Chenyu (teaching secretary) and Ren Jiahang (instructor of freshmen).

Su Xiaogang illustrated he background as well as the purpose of this activity before its beginning. It aimed to reinforce the communication between teachers and students and to resolve students' confusion so as to help them adjust themselves to lives and study in the CCNU. After the introduction, the participants already had a basic understanding of this campaign, meanwhile, their extreme tension and cautiousness faded away.

As the activity began, a group of students made a discussion about the problem if it was sensible for non-government-funded students to choose to shift to the government-funded ones. Someone demonstrated that it made him feel anxious after the two-month learning of psychology since he thought that it would be rather difficult for him to found an ideal job after graduation. Also, someone pointed out directly that government-funded students would be offered with occupations at schools, and this made him intend to alter. However, to this question, Mr. Zhao presented that though the job security would be guaranteed, choosing to alter simultaneously meant less opportunities for students, as the given jobs have to satisfy the domestic requirements. In brief, before the decision, we ought to think twice.

Afterwards, Li Muzi raised a question, “Now the public still make little awareness of psychology, so is there any efficient approach to popularize its professional knowledge?” “Well, the popularization is just one aspect, actually there are dramatically few things which we can do spontaneously. Though psychology is just an unpopular subject, most of people would gradually understand and accept it after the surge of its demand.” Meanwhile, Liu Qinxue added that, “The citizens tend to pay more attention to their mental health for having undergone the epidemic of this year, so we needn’t to concern too much about the employment difficulty. However, in this kind of condition, the pressure of people who are occupied in the relevant fields will enhance a lot. Consequently, this will also result in more challenges.”

In the meantime, in the other classroom, it seemed that students have a lot to talk as well. Cheng Liang gave the explanation for the anatomy course, then Du Chenyu answered the questions about minor and dual degree, which made the circumstance relaxing.

At the end of this activity, Zhao Qingbai summarized, “As undergraduates, things you ought to learn are far more than professional knowledge. The cultivation of the self-study ability, independent thinking and your grasp of learning methods are even more significant to learn.” He also said, "For things that we are curious about, attempts and practice are more helpful than our imagination".
