In early August, a series of online and offline lectures on the theme of chemistry were held in various communities and classes by Party members of the pioneer practice team of the School of Chemistry of Central China Normal University. The purpose of this activity is to popularize the chemical knowledge in epidemic prevention, advocate the concept of green chemistry and convey the sense of responsibility. Five members of the team conducted the preaching in different communities and classes.
On the morning of August 5th, Pan Jun used the Tencent conference platform to deliver a lecture on "chemical knowledge in epidemic prevention" to the students of the Class 1802 from the School of Chemistry of CCNU. The lecture presented the detailed knowledge of daily protection and related chemical principles through four parts: daily protection, disinfection, internal medication, and anti-epidemic results. During the presentation, Pan Jun interacted with the audience in the form of multiple-choice questions and the atmosphere was active. After the lecture, the audiences said that the lecture had increased their knowledge and understood more common sense of life.
On the morning of August 8, Chen Yuxi gave her first speech. The theme of the presentation was "Sharing the responsibility of youth for the future of our country", and the audience was the students of Class 5, Senior 1 from Kunming Eighth High School. The presentation focused on the two sessions of the National People's Congress and the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China this year. Chen Yuxi introduced the knowledge she had learned in applied chemistry and the future direction of development in the context of her university life. After the presentation, class teacher Wang Xin said, "This presentation reviewed the knowledge of the two sessions from different perspectives, but more importantly, combined with university life and specific professional knowledge, it helped students understand the responsibility of being born at the right time." On the afternoon of August 11, Chen Yuxi gave the second presentation in the property management office of Yunfu District. Due to the impact of the epidemic, the masses could not gather in large numbers, so she recorded the preaching into a video and sent it to the community owners' group, which received a better response.
On the morning of August 9, Zhang Yewen gave a lecture on the theme of "Protecting the Environment and Green Chemistry" through the online Tencent Conference. Zhang first introduced the causes, hazards, and prevention and control measures of the four major environmental problems in the world, including global warming, ozone layer depletion, acid rain, and red tide, to the participating junior high school students. Considering that the children had not yet taken chemistry classes, Zhang explained to them in layman's terms the main chemical reactions that occur during these processes. And through a public service announcement, he called on everyone to enhance environmental awareness and reduce the use of plastic bags.
In order to increase the knowledge of chemical epidemic prevention, improve the awareness of self-protection and enhance the mental health of young people, Xie Duanfeng delivered a lecture on chemical epidemic prevention during the epidemic to children at the New Enlightenment Training Center in Sanyang Town, Jingshan City, Hubei Province on the morning of August 10th. Xie Duanfeng began by analyzing the global epidemic situation and stressed the necessity of having good knowledge and forming good hygiene habits. After that, he introduced the selection of masks and how to use them. After the introduction of mask knowledge, Xie Duanfeng explained the relevant knowledge of the seven-step washing technique, the children followed him to learn to do together, with great interest.
On August 12, Hui Xinshang conducted a science popularization program on the theme of "green chemistry" in the families of the community, targeting middle and high school students from 12 to 16 years old. The target audience was middle and high school students between 12 and 16 years old. Hui Xinshang introduced the birth, development history, basic principle and application of green chemistry to the audience in turn. In the end of the presentation, the audience Xiao Qing said, "After this presentation, I have a deeper understanding of chemistry and the importance of green development, which inspired my interest in learning chemistry."
So far, the series of theme activities of the pioneering practice team of the School of Chemistry has come to a successful end. After the activity, the members of the team will continue to adhere to the green and healthy lifestyle in their actual life, and actively publicize the relevant scientific knowledge to the surrounding groups, lead the green lifestyle and spread the responsibility of the times.
