With the purpose of promoting the positive interaction between teachers and students and improving the education quality of the school, on the evening of May 21st, under the guidance of Undergraduate School, CCNU, the conversazione between teachers and students for the spring semester in 2020 held by School of Politics and International Relations（hereafter referred to as SPIR）went on smoothly on the platform Tencent Meeting. In this activity, Cheng Xiangzhang, the counsellor of Undergraduate School, was specially invited, with Professor Hu Zongshan, president of SPIR, Professor Huang Huixiang, the vice-president, Professor Zhao Changfeng, dean of International politics department, Professor Yuan Fangcheng, dean of politics department, associate Professor Qian Daogeng, Zhou Huaping and Zhao Ningning who served as representatives of teachers, and six students from different grades and majors engaged. Besides, the conversazione was hosted by Sun Yansong, the teaching secretary.
First of all, President Hu introduced the implementation process of the online teaching held by SPIR and also gave a brief introduction to the aim and purpose of the conversazione. Then, based on the former surveys, the problems students came across and the suggestions they raised during the epidemic were showed by the six student representatives in turn. Among the problems, what was most frequently mentioned were how to arrange the final examinations of this term, whether the deadline for the papers of certain course could be postponed due to the writing pressure, how to judge the usual performance and so on. At the same time, different grades had different voices. For example, the freshmen were puzzled with major streaming. However, the juniors were concerned about whether the academic summer camp would be held, etc. For those questions, the teachers present gave their answers to the way of checking-in for the classes, the standard for judging the usual performance, the method to carry out the final examinations, etc, with their experience gathering during the online teaching.
Besides, in the conversazione, the student representatives, together with the teachers, shared the advanced experience and outstanding examples emerging during the period of online teaching. For instance, Wu Xiaoqi, a sophomore, praised that the course on Summary of Mao Zedong's Theories focused on the connection between one class and the following one, and the teacher also learned about the students' need through the pre-class surveys. Yang Wenhan, a freshman, introduced the teaching mode called "reversing class". Dong Shiyi and Zhu Longyi, both junior, talked about the teaching method of Yu Weihai and Zhang Xian, who made a detailed sequence for hands-up, which showed their consideration for the speaking-up need of every student.
Finally, President Huang answered to the questions about the method of course testing, the standard of judging usual performance, the choice of online teaching platforms, etc, and made a conclusion for the conversazione. He thanked teachers and students for supporting the undergraduate education of SPIR, and said that the school would make a summing-up according to the opinions and suggestions from students, and make improvements.
After the meeting, Feng Sinuo, a freshman, said: "Not only did the conversazione enhance the communication between us and teachers, but also the understanding of each other. I'm really looking forward to the next conversazione."
