May 29, 2020 Shen Yuchen, Wang Yunting

At the beginning of 2020, many Internet-famous shops of CCNU, which were supposed to open in February, could not be opened as usual owing to the epidemic. What is the situation of these shops? And what measures have they taken? With these questions in mind, reporters interviewed the managers of two shops around CCNU, Shuyi Grass Jelly near the South Gate of the school and Zhigenzhidi Pizzeria on Guiyuan Road, online at the end of March.

It is understood that, up to the time of publication, the suspension of business in the past two months caused by the epidemic has had a significant impact on the stores. The owner of Shuyi Grass Jelly said that not only work resumption could not be carried out, but he himself was in the state of home isolation due to the serious epidemic situation. He also said that what he worried about most was the cost. "During this epidemic, we are forced to stop business, but we still have to pay the salary of employees and shop rent. As a result, the performance has been showing negative growth, and we are facing huge losses." It is reported that this branch of Shuyi Grass Jelly belongs to the self-employed family, which lacks corresponding subsidies and support. Now the shop rent and employee salary are still borne by the store owner.

Compared with the situation that Shuyi Grass Jelly cannot start working, Zhigenzhidi Pizzeria is still carrying out normal business as much as possible. According to the store manager of Zhigenzhidi Pizzeria, they were faced with the situation of lack of raw materials and production stagnation at first, but now the production line has gradually returned to normal, and the required raw materials have also been restored to supply.

In addition, when out-of-home consumption had to be closed, the main business mode was transformed into online orders. The store manager said, "In the middle of February, Meituan, Eleme and other platforms were able to supply goods within the province. Although the materials from other provinces still could not be imported, the overall situation was much better than before." In order to avoid unnecessary contact with customers, they take measures such as setting up isolation bars outside the store to ensure that they can resume production on the premise of safety. Whats more, to ensure the security of the materials, they choose to purchase all materials on the formal platform where all the suppliers having insurance clauses. In case of infection, they are accountable according to the law.

As natives of Wuhan, they do their best to bear the responsibility and obligation of personal protection during the epidemic. As ordinary merchants, they are suffering unspeakable difficulties and huge losses.
