On the afternoon of April 12, with the coming of the National Security Education Day (falls on April 15), the counselors of School of Information Management hosted night roll calls with the theme of “Things about National Security Really Matter” in all grades. Its purpose was to further study, publicize and implement the overall national security concept, strengthen the publicity and study of national security work policies, major decisions and national security laws and regulations, guide students to establish the concept and consciousness of national security, and improve students' consciousness and initiative of maintaining it.

The counselors were good at giving systematic guidance and students communicated with each other freely. 2020 is the fifth national security education day for all citizens. This year's theme is "adhere to the overall national security concept, coordinate traditional security and non-traditional security, and provide strong guarantee for the decisive victory of building a moderately prosperous society in an all-round way". According to National Security Law, counselors guided students to study and understand the definition of "national security" and its broad content through online Q&A, emphasizing that national security is an important guarantee of social security and personal security. Students actively answered questions, expressed opinions and participated in discussions in the chat section.

The students deeply understood the significance of national security and shared their opinions actively. Counselors of all grades invited some students to share their understanding and views on sticking to the overall national security concept in the new era online. Chen Qiuyang from Grade 2016, shared the advanced examples of maintaining public health and national security in the front line of anti-epidemic with practical actions during COVID-19 epidemic, such as the touching deeds of volunteers and devotees like Hua Yuchen, an alumni form Grade 2008, and She Sha, a nurse of Sichuan Fourth People's Hospital. Chen Guoliang, a student from Grade 2019, made an in-depth explanation on ecological security, public health security, homeland security and Internet security. He said that national security was an important cornerstone which brings peace and stability to the country, and we needed to walk out a national security path with Chinese characteristics, maintain national security in key areas, enhance awareness of hardship and prevent risks and challenges. Therefore, national security education for all was of great significance for contemporary youth to establish a correct outlook on life, values and the world.

Counselors combined with current affairs and life experience to talk about the importance of national security. In order to make students understand the reason that everyone is responsible for safeguarding national security more deeply, counselors took garbage classification, free speech on the Internet, COVID-19 epidemic and other current affairs as the starting point, guided students to think about ecological security, network security and public health security, and taught them to reflect on the importance of safeguarding national security from their life experience.

Counselors strengthen students' awareness and enhance their cognition through more Q&A and interaction. At the end of the night roll call, an online answer link was carried out to consolidate students’ knowledge related to national security and improve the effect of national security theme education, guiding students to establish a correct concept of national security and arousing students’ reflection on what they can do to safeguard national security. The students were deeply aware that national security was no longer a distant "spy film", but a matter closely related to each individual and each family. In the maintenance of national security, everyone is not an outsider or onlooker. Responsibility lies not only in our hearts, but also in our practical actions.
