On the evening of March 15, a roll-call event themed career obtaining and postgraduate recommendation was held by junior students of the English Department from School of Foreign Language, which aims to help students to understand the employment situation in advance and make preparations inwardly and practically. The lecture guest Wu Peibin, graduate of the Translation Department in2013, shared his own experience in job-seeking and postgraduate recommendation. Also, he gave his advice on the problems students currently facing.
At the beginning of the roll-call, the counsellor Wang Li gave an instruction of the lecture guest Wu Peibin. She pointed that, Wu was admitted to the School of International Organization of Beijing Foreign Studies University as a postgraduate without examination and he now works in the embassy. Wang Li said this was a multinational classroom and reminded students to value this chance to communicate with the outstanding alumni. Wu Peibin started his experience sharing in welcome applause from students.

First Wu Peibin talked about postgraduate entrance examination, which concerned students most. He pointed out that setting a clear goal was the first key step in achieving success in the examination. We are supposed to make proper planning in advance and arrange our time well. Secondly, he emphasized that there was mutual influence between preparing for postgraduate entrance examination and seeking for a job. If there is failure in the exam, you need to grasp the subsequent employment opportunity.
For those students who need to seek jobs after graduation, Wu Peibin shared his resume, briefly illustrating its making and designing. With consideration about lacking experience in job interviews taken into, he also introduced interview process and skills in detail, combining his own experience, with vivid language and typical examples. He focused on difference between structured interview and unstructured interview and some related etiquette. Importantly, appropriate interview etiquette could bring favorable impression on employers. Then Wu introduced how to prepare for postgraduate summer camp emphatically, mentioning his personal experience.
After those experience sharing, Wu invited students to interact, answering their online questions. Some students showed puzzles in signing employment agreements. Wu explained the signing and function of the agreement to students, and reminded that they must position themselves properly and sign contracts rationally. CCNU at present adopts online agreement signing, greatly simplifying the process of employment. But online signing needs the honesty and thoughtful mind of everyone, the counsellor Wang Li added.
This evening roll-call aimed at answering students’ puzzles and problems in preparing for postgraduate entrance examination and job-seeking, helping them clear the future direction of different developments. Students said that the event meant more than solving those basic problems. It also taught them many skills in career obtaining, as guidance function for future study and employment. It was said that more graduates would be invited to share online afterwards for juniors of the English Department, so that students could better know themselves, position themselves properly, further transform their ideas and make proper career choices.
