Doctor Wu: A Tender Party Member and Conscientious Tutor

April 16, 2020 Li Binxun

Since antiquity, Wuhan has been a heroic city, which was sufficiently testified during this epidemic. However, it was a large number of ordinary people that built our heroic city. Doctor Wu Yanwen, from College of Physical Science and Technology in CCNU, an ordinary but great person, helped to fight with epidemic.

Within the rage of COVID-19, Wuhan is struggling with an enormous disaster, in which the boundless love is urgently needed. Who dares to rise up to challenges practices the boundless love, just like Doctor Wu. She used to talk about it, “COVID-19 wreaks havoc brutally, but human beings fight together warmly. Facing this epidemic, I, as a Party member, have to take on this challenge and never flinch away—It’s my duty to walk into the community, devoting myself to the epidemic prevention.” Just as she said, the love and responsibility for Wuhan encourage her to plunge into the anti-epidemic.

During the epidemic prevention, her community followed nation’s instructions and put them into practice: seal off the area, forbid member’s movement and arrange volunteers to transport supplies. In the meantime, all kinds of routine issues were proceeding, such as disinfect, daily announcer, looking after the old, organizing group-buying, arranging medical examination and so on. For Doctor Wu, not only was “Community Chief”(she put forward it) put into effect, she also joined the volunteer team to supervise community routine issues. She set up WeChat groups for members reporting temperature, volunteers organizing group-buying and handing out supplies. Through WeChat groups, she spread lots of good news, sent heart-warming words to stimulate members to fight together.

Beside her voluntary work, she had to direct 17 postgraduates to academic research. As a tutor, she persisted in reading scholarly literature and shared high quality literature with students. Meanwhile, study meetings were held regularly for academic communication. According to teaching methods, she attached great importance to resolving everyone’s personalized problems(such as topic selection of thesis, innovation point) and connecting weekly report with Voice Call. In addition, she was concerned about students’ living conditions and psychologic status. What a responsible and heartening teacher! As she said, “Though we are under the dark clouds, rainbows and shining sun are around the corner. Let’s learn from those heroes, battle against COVID-19 together, and ultimately pull through! I am in CCNU, and I will stay with you!”

Rainbows and shining sun are around the corner. There is no difficulty that Chinese nation can’t overcome. I believe, with the joint effort, before long, Wuhan will recover from this epidemic. I believe, with mutual help, tomorrow will be better.
