At 19:30 on Nov.11th, 2019HuBei My Love for National Defense college students’ speech contest final was held successfully in west lecture hall of Wuhan University of Technology. The competition was hosted by the Hubei Provincial National Defense Education Office and organized by the National Defense Education Association of Hubei Province and the Wuhan University of Technology. Ten competitors coming from different colleges in Wuhan were selected to the final. To our delight, Li Yizhou from our School of Journalism and Communication won the second prize.
11月11日19：30，2019年湖北省“爱我国防”大学生主题演讲比赛决赛在武汉理工大学西院报告厅顺利举行。此次比赛由湖北省国防教育办公室主办，湖北省普通高等学校国防教育协会及武汉理工大学承办。共有来自武汉各高校的十名选手进入决赛，我校新闻传播学院理一洲同学喜获二等奖。
Li Yizhou performed outstandingly in military training and was awarded the first prize in the speech competition of The Star of Military Training. And he was selected to 2019HuBei My Love for National Defense college students’ speech contest final through making a video. When Li was asked why he would take part in the contest, he answered:“On one hand, I want to develop my professional skills through this competition. On the other hand, participating in the competition is out of my love for national defense and motherland.”
军训时理一洲同学表现优异，获得了学校“军训之星”演讲比赛特等奖，之后通过录制视频，顺利入选2019年“爱我国防”大学生主题演讲比赛决赛。在被问到为何参加比赛时，理一洲答到：“一是想通过这场比赛锻炼自己的专业技能，二是出于我对国防、对祖国的热爱吧！”
It wasn’t easy to prepare the competition. Li Yizhou was trained by his teacher over and over and revised his draft for 7 times in an effort to complete the speech article named Raise the Awareness in National Defense and Strengthen Our National Defense. He kept practicing although he had caught a cold and had a hoarse throat.
赛前准备是辛苦的，理一洲经过了老师的多次当面培训，7次修改稿子才完成了题为《树立国防意识，增强国防实力》的演讲稿。即使感冒嗓子沙哑，也坚持练习。
Li failed to make his speech very fluently in the rehearsal, which enhanced his nervousness. He said the mistake in rehearsal made he very intense and even couldn’t slow down his heartbeat.
彩排时出现卡词问题，加剧了他的紧张情绪。据理一洲透露：“彩排的失误让我在正式上场前非常紧张，心跳怎么也缓不过来。”
When the competition really started, Li, as the last competitor, delivered the speech perfectly and finished it favorably even though the brilliant speech addressed by former competitors had made him stressful. At last, he won the second prize with a score of 94.7.
正式比赛开始后，理一洲作为最后一名选手，顶着前面选手的压力上场。但他稳定发挥，顺利完成比赛，最终以94.7分的成绩荣获二等奖。
After the competition, Li Yizhou presented that he was not that satisfied with the scores, but he learned lots of his own shortcomings in the competition. Things will develop in the opposite direction when they become extreme and out of the depth of misfortune comes bliss. It is because of his weak points that motivate him to move on.
赛后理一洲表示：“我对这次比赛成绩并不是很满意，但是它让我了解了自己的诸多不足。物极必反，否极泰来，正是因为仍有不足我才能继续前行。”
