As the Spring Festival fades away and the Bingwu Year unfolds, the new semester registration kicked off on March 1st. Students of the School of Mathematics and Statistics returned to their familiar campus one after another, filled with hopes for the new year.
Zhou Bo, Deputy Party Secretary of the school, together with graduate counselors Zhang Lan, Zeng Faqing and Zhang Xinyi, visited graduate student dormitories. They focused on investigating and communicating with students about their ideological dynamics after returning to school, reminded them to adjust their state as soon as possible and get back into the swing of study and life. They also urged students to closely combine their own career development plans, carefully formulate study and work plans for the new semester, strive to improve professional skills and comprehensive literacy, and make full preparations for the new stage of study and scientific research.
Long Xingyu and Qiao Zhengwen, counselors for the 2022 undergraduate cohort, took the opportunity of the opening roll call and dormitory visits to focus on helping students switch from winter vacation mode to study mode, arranging their graduation theses, and providing tips on further study and employment. They specially reminded students to check their academic credits, pay close attention to job hunting and employment, and help them broaden their ideas for future development.
Lin Shiyun and Hu Yixin, counselors for the 2023 undergraduate cohort, reminded students to get back to study in time during the opening roll call and dormitory visits. They emphasized the hours required for aesthetic education and labor education, the procedures and notes for course make-up selection and the school-based examination for teacher qualification certificates. Meanwhile, they warned students against telecom fraud to strengthen their awareness of fraud prevention, guiding them to start the new semester in a good state.
Zeng Shuang and Wang Xinyu, counselors for the 2024 undergraduate cohort, explained matters such as course adjustment and re-selection for the new semester, submission of social practice materials, and prevention of telecom fraud. They also reminded students to set clear goals and make rational plans for the new semester, and face new academic challenges with a positive and pragmatic attitude.
Hu Yixin and Xiang Jin, counselors for the 2025 undergraduate cohort, elaborated on the interpretation of the talent training program, registration for the new semester, course adjustment and re-selection, and textbook collection. They reminded students to make plans for the new semester and raise their awareness of preventing telecom fraud at the same time.
A year's plan starts with spring, and a good start paves the way for great achievements. The smooth and orderly operation on the first day of the semester has laid a solid foundation for all work in the new semester. Standing at the new starting point of the Bingwu Year of the Horse, all teachers and students of the School of Mathematics and Statistics are forging ahead hand in hand with the vigor and spirit of a dragon and a horse, and working together to compose a new chapter for the school!
