The Voice of CCNU On the afternoon of May 16th, the "Mentoring Workshop" event of the School of Education, titled "Worry Relief Station - Unlocking the Code of Mentoring and Learning Interaction", was successfully held in Room 901 of the Tin Kaping Education College. Representatives of postgraduate supervisors from the college, Shen Guochang, Luo Zubing, and Xu Fenghua, along with Chen Zhenzhen, a full-time teacher from Mental Health Education Center, engaged in in-depth interactive exchanges with over 30 representatives of doctoral and master's students, focusing on aspects such as role positioning, communication effectiveness, and stress management in mentorship interactions. The event was presided over by Su Chunyan, the Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the college.

Professor Shen Guochang shared his insights under the theme of "The Way of a Mentor: Establishing Virtue and Setting an Example, Educating with Sincerity", covering aspects such as dedication to one's job, strict self-discipline, meticulous guidance, caring for students as if they were one's own children, and all-round education. He pointed out that mentors should base themselves on the core of "moral education and talent cultivation", and become "all-round guides" for students' growth in academic studies, life, character and research. He emphasized that supervisors should implement teaching and guidance work with a strong sense of responsibility, provide meticulous guidance in key links such as thesis topic selection, proposal, and defense, and strictly control academic quality. At the same time, the educational concept of "Love fills the world" should also be practiced in aspects such as spiritual care and employment support, materializing "loving students as if they were one's own children" into concrete actions to help students achieve all-round development. Finally, he addressed his teachers and students, saying, "Teachers should be devoted and passionate, and scholars should work hard and diligently."

Professor Luo Zubing, drawing on his years of experience in nurturing students, shared a seven-step growth method for postgraduate students' academic growth, which are: setting clear goals, delving deeply into reading, focusing on research, perseverance, efficient execution, and maintaining a positive mindset and being grateful. He emphasized that research ability is the foundation for postgraduate students to stand firm, and they need to cultivate the full-chain quality of "topic selection - research - writing", while in-depth reading is the cornerstone - "It is better to be concise than general, and thoroughly reading one book is better than reading ten volumes." In addition, he also pointed out that scientific research requires patience, repeated refinement, and timely response to tasks to build mutual trust between teachers and students. Finally, he encouraged students to relieve stress with a positive attitude, to be enterprising in academic research and always be grateful in life, so as to achieve a dual elevation of academic character and humanistic quality.

Professor Xu Fenghua shared his insights on the theme of "Building a Caring Mentorship Relationship and Enhancing the Quality of Postgraduate Education". She pointed out that the supervisor is the first person responsible for the cultivation of postgraduate students, and the mentor-student relationship plays a crucial role in the quality of postgraduate cultivation. And analyze the problems such as inefficient communication and the predicament of "aphasia" existing in the current guided learning interaction, and advocate that teachers and students need to jointly break the one-way relationship; With "two-way care" as the core, it not only enhances the educational ability of mentors but also guides students to shift from "passive waiting" to "active communication", thereby improving students' care literacy. Finally, she concluded by citing Nell Nordings' viewpoint: "Care without the label of education is still education, while education that incorporates care is education with richer implications and more educational nature."

Teacher Chen Zhenzhen shared her insights on the theme of "From 'Fear' to 'Harmony' : Re-understanding the Mentorship Relationship and Emotional Regulation". She first introduced the types of expectations for the mentorship relationship and several perspectives of understanding, and emphasized the concept of "goals nested within the relationship". She pointed out that the goal in the mentorship relationship should be the "common goal of both sides" composed of the "goal of the mentor" and the "goal of the student". For students, they should become active learners and (prospective) researchers to achieve "de-studentization". For mentors, it is necessary to assist students in becoming (prospective) researchers, completing academic training and expressing academic ideas. Meanwhile, she analyzed the causes of different types of students' fear of their mentors through specific cases and put forward targeted solutions.

During the interactive session, the students present asked questions enthusiastically, and the atmosphere on the spot was very lively. At the end of the event, Su Chunyan concluded that the four guests provided practical guidelines for optimizing the mentor-student relationship from multiple dimensions such as educational concepts, growth paths, relationship building, and emotional adjustment. She expressed the hope that teachers and students would join hands to build a community of values, academia, emotions, and growth, and inject vitality into the high-quality development of the mentor-student relationship in the college. In the future, the School of Education will continue to promote the "Guided Learning Workshop" series of activities to enhance the quality and efficiency of postgraduate talent cultivation.
