Voice of CCNU In order to further get close to students and enter into students, and to implement the concept of “education with temperature”, Huishenghui Social Education Studio of the School of Social Sciences was stationed in the one-stop community of Block 4 of the National Communication Building on April 23rd, the World Book Day, and held a reading salon activity themed on “Red Book Fragrance Refreshes the Flower, the Most Beautiful Human Four Reading Salon Activity with the Theme of “Red Book Fragrance Refreshes Fancy, The Most Beautiful Four Days on Earth”. Feng Shengbing, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Social Sciences, Zhai Juan, counselor of graduate students, and some graduate students attended the activity.

First of all, Ms. Zhai Juan shared her thoughts on the theme of “Reading after the General Secretary”. She borrowed the quotations and aphorisms from the book Xi Jinping and Friends of College Students to inspire the students of the School of Social Sciences to be both ambitious and down-to-earth in their present and future studies and work. As young students, we should always bear in mind the wishes of General Secretary Xi Jinping, constantly forge ahead in the spirit of seeking truth from facts, and write our thesis on the ground of our motherland.

Afterwards, three students, He Guoxi and Cao Shixin from the second-year sociology major and Lu Jiajing from the first-year social work major, shared their reading experiences. He Guoxi discussed the science fiction novel “Three Bodies” in depth from three aspects: science fiction setting, human nature and civilization history, which made the students in the audience marvel at the setting and plot of the science fiction novel, and at the same time think more deeply about the social realities reflected behind the science fiction novel.

Cao Shixin recommends Kazuo Ishiguro's The Long Day Will End. Through the story of an old-fashioned English butler's thirty-year career and six days of traveling, he believes that although Kazuo Ishiguro's narrative expresses a sense of time and subtle sadness, his words give us “the courage and confidence to move forward slowly”.

The book that Lu Jiajing shared was Lin Yaohua's The Golden Wings. She introduced the ups and downs of two families in this book from the end of the Qing Dynasty to the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression for more than thirty years, which made the material and spiritual worlds of China's traditional vernacular societies jump off the page.

After the sharing of reading experience, participants had a free exchange on how to choose books, how to read, how to make reading notes and other issues. Everyone actively shared their book selection experience and reading skills, and gained a lot from each other's strengths and weaknesses.

Finally, Secretary Feng Shengbing summarized the activity. He emphasized that reading is eternal and a process of continuous self-improvement. Students should insist on reading in their daily life, make full use of the fragmented time, seize the precious time, read well, read widely, read good books, enrich themselves continuously, and improve their reading literacy. At the same time, Secretary Feng affirmed the effectiveness of the student cultivation work of Huishenghui Social Nurturing Workshop and hoped that in the future, more and better boutique activities could be launched, giving full play to the professional advantages of the college, bringing together the power of nurturing, allowing students to actively participate in the effective implementation of the fundamental task of establishing morality and educating people.
