The Online Training Meeting on the Program of “Pomegranate” Hometown Ethnic Cultural Research of College of Chemistry Was Launched Smoothly

Aimed at consolidating the consciousness of the Chinese nation community and offering a tribute to the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, the “Pomegranate” Learning and Development Center and the “Pomegranate” Ethnic Workshop would carry out Pomegranate” hometown ethnic cultural research activity during the winter vacation in 2021 in combination with “Four History” education. Li Jia, instructor of ethnic work and associate professor of chemistry teaching theory, and the graduate students in the research group were invited to provide professional guidance in this activity, which attracted a large number of students interested in ethnic culture to sign up for it. On January 20th, Wang Lingjiao, Hu Yuanlong and Zhang Manman, organized a special training online meeting in order to make thorough preparations for the research. They clarified the significance and practice paths of family ethics, hometown cultural researches and school-based curriculum development activities.


The purpose of the research on family ethics and hometown culture was to encourage students to deeply understand the spiritual civilization of their hometowns, enhance the sense of belonging and pride, and undertake the responsibility of inheriting and innovating family ethics and hometown culture. Wang Lingjiao and Hu Yuanlong conducted trainings on family ethics and hometown culture research. Wang Lingjiao made a brief introduction of the project from four aspects: the purpose, the site, the object and the form. Then she explained the preliminary stage of the interview and the tips students needed during the interview. Finally, she made an in-depth interpretation of the family tradition, family motto, hometown cultural questionnaire and interview outline. Hu Yuanlong, on the other hand, gave detailed introduction and guidance to the writing of research reports on family traditions, family ethics and hometown culture, as well as research reports on science and technology, revolution and comprehensive museum.




School-based curriculum development activities aimed at training teacher education undergraduates’ abilities to develop and innovate the school-based chemistry curriculum by using their hometown cultural resources while improving their abilities to apply real situations to chemistry teaching. Zhang Manman conducted trainings on the edition of the school-based curriculum textbooks, giving a brief introduction to the connotation and the significance of developing school-based curriculum and offering detailed advice on the choosing of materials, the edition, the editing platform and content arrangement to edit the school-based curriculum textbooks of local characteristics, and finally sharing outstanding cases of the school-based curriculum textbooks for study and reference.





At the end of the training meeting, the participants of the “Pomegranate” Learning and Development Center said that through the training, they had a new understanding of the purpose, procedures and approaches of the winter vacation research activity from the perspective of strengthening the cultural identity of their hometowns and strengthening the sense of community of the Chinese nation, and they were fully confident to successfully complete the research.
