On the morning of November 13th, the popularization of science activity Make Friends Regardless of Distance, Stand Together Regardless of Situation was held at Boya Square which attracted many students and teachers. In order to make people familiar with the epidemic situation around the world and deepen the community of shared future of mankind, the activity aimed to covey the tenderness between people and countries during the epidemic by popularizing the knowledge of foreign cultures. The activity could made students fully recognize their missions as the youth in the new era, and strengthen their sense of social responsibility. Qiu Ling, The Secretary of Youth League Committee of Foreign Language School attended the activity.

The activity was held by the Communist Youth League of CCNU FLS committee together with some Youth League branches for minor languages and some language clubs, and the activity consisted of two parts, the popularization and Q&A. Each stall had posters of distinctive cultures from several countries like the UK, Japan, France, Korea, Russia and Spain. The popularization covered knowledge like the Spanish traditional festivals, kimono, Japanese Sado as well as some beautiful French words. What’s more, the activity focused on showing the demeanour China had shown during the global epidemic in which China together with other countries like Japan, Russia and Korea supported and helped each other, fighting the pandemic hand in hand, tiding through the difficulties. Qiu Ling said, ‘not only can the popularization enrich students’ knowledge about foreign cultures with Q&A games, it can also deepen students’ understanding of global epidemic with the posters.’ As the key activity of FLS in this term, the activity enriched students’ knowledge and raised their awareness, and was a special interpretation of community with shared future of mankind on the basis of showing the language characteristic of FLS.

Except for the knowledge extension part, there were also some games which transformed the traditional popularization into a funnier one: participants collected the decorations by attending the Q&A games, and used the medals to exchange some gifts. Plenty gifts were provided like CCNU postcards, notebooks and USB flash disks. The Q&A combined the game with the international cultural knowledge more closely. In the games, the students strengthened their own digests of this kind of knowledge and broadened their cognitive horizons. The happy atmosphere, the brisk music and the intense games attracted a large number of students, even many primary school students had actively participated in it, which had brought more laughter to this activity.

The sophomore Zhang Zheng was the first one to have collected 12 medals, and he won a USB flash disk. He said, ‘I had learned more about lives and cultures of those foreign countries and broadened my horizons. It is also meaningful to understand the solidarity of countries in helping each other and fighting the epidemic .’ Spread the national warmth, show the global cooperation. Although the activity has ended, its significance lasts for long. As college students, we should also adhere to the concept of community with shared future of mankind, and create a better world.
