The voice of CCNU On December 3, the campaign on National Constitution Day was held in the activity room of the Building 1 of East Community. Zhou Bei, the counsellor of the Community and students in Dormitory took part in it. Han Lu and Gong Wenzhu, members of academic generalParty branch of Law School hosted and gave publicity.
At the beginning, Zhou Bei, counsellor of the community, introduced the process and meaning of the activity, which included two sections. One is publicity on the theme, while the other is knowledge quiz. Zhou Bei said, importance and attention should be attached to National Constitution Day. And this activity served as a right opportunity for students to know more about relevant knowledge about constitution.
Afterwards, Han Lu gave publicity on the theme ”promote spirit of law, create a harmonious community“ . She started from the context in the now-in-force constitution. Civil rights are divided into different stages including birth, school, adulthood, army joining, graduation and career, tax, marriage, housing, retiring and death. And detailed explanations were delivered to better understand corresponding context of constitution in each stage. She said, though it feels like far away from us to the constitution, rights given by constitution are enjoyed by us all the time. When mentioning the part of marriage and life, she pointed out the obligations of the parents and children altogether: husband and wife have the obligation to carry out family planning; parents have the obligation to raise and educate the minors; grown-up children have the obligation to support and help their parents.
Next, Han Lu explained the civil rights that concern people’s interests in the 1982-edition constitution in sequence. Ranging from rights in equality and rest to humanity dignity and rights on education, Han Lu deepened the student representatives’ understanding of these rights, by means of case analysis more than definition introduction. Shan Shan, one of the representatives, said afterwards : ”Qi Yuling’s and Sun Zhigang’s cases left a great impression on me. These cases tell us on the one hand, we can not exceed the limit of the constitution; on the other hand, we should study the constitution and put it into use actually.” When enjoying the rights, we also need to think about how to exercise rights. Every citizen enjoys the rights and at the same time must perform the duties prescribed by the constitution and the law, Han emphasized.
In the final quiz, Gong Wenzhu applied the form that questions on the screen scrolled and stopped at random, which should be answered. Representatives took an active part, creating a heated and lively atmosphere. When asking the date of National Constitution Day in the 19th question, the answer “December 4” was yelled out among the students. The knowledge contained in the 175 questions was related to every aspect of the constitution. Gong gave explanations to those questions automatically selected. And students gained a lot in the process.
As is the first time into the student’s community, the constitution campaign is aimed at publicizing National Constitution Day, enhancing students’ understanding of the constitution and arousing the initiative that the public participate in community activities. As the pioneer to arrange such publicity in constitution, the Building 1 of East Community set an example for reference to publicize the constitution.
