The last two weeks have witnessed the spectacle of 7th CISM Military World Games held in Wuhan. Over 10 thousand active soldiers from more than 100 countries gathered and competed. It is the first time that China has been the host of comprehensive international military events. Also, MWG this year has been the largest international sports gala held by China since the Beijing Olympics and Nanjing YOG. If given some words to conclude what happened, I will choose the three “V”: vision, victory and voluntary.

Vision

The opening ceremony for MWG this year is absolutely a visual feast. Combined with advanced technology, the performance is immersed in traditional Chinese culture as well. For instance, the emblem, called “Bond of Peace and Friendship”, is composed by images like the dove of peace, exposing the core of our traditional Chinese culture——“He”.
On the evening of October 27th, the 7th MWG, lasting for ten days, came to an end in Wuhan. Besides the same visual shock as the opening, the close ceremony brought well-noted Jiqing Street in Wuhan, to the stage, which granted MWG the characteristic of China and style of Wuhan, making itself the highlight.

Victory
On the fields of every event, China seems to be the king ——One gold medal per 50 minutes! In the end, 133 gold medals, 64 silver medals and 42 bronze ones, 239 in total, were taken, ranking the top of the medal table, which has achieved the best scores since China participated in MWG. Before now, China hasn’t dominated the rankings for both medals and gold ones in MWG.

Li Yinhui, an undergraduate from Sports School of CCNU, together with her partner, Du Yue, defeated their opponents with 2:1 and won gold medal for China.

Pan Yucheng, who is called “bullet”, broke the world record of men’s 500m steeplechase.

In men’s 4×200m swimming relay race, Wang Shun was misled by other rivals and thus swam another 200m for no use but strength consumption. However, Wang, together with another 3 Chinese swimmers, still won the champion and broke the world record “by the way”.
What also has to be mentioned is the disabled. Distinguished from the Olympics, which sets the disabled and the normal ones apart, MWG lets them stand on the same line, expressing the idea that those getting hurt at battlefield are not forgotten but honored, both as soldiers and sportsmen.

Voluntary
As one of the top universities in Wuhan, CCNU took an active part in relevant work. Over 60 students from Dance Department of Music School participated in the performance of the opening ceremony. Among more than1000 actors, those from CCNU all stood at the center of the stage! At that moment, the world was watching China, while China was watching CCNU!

Also, there was a group of students appearing almost everywhere in the stadium: the “Little Metasequoia”. It’s named after the color of their clothes. They were divided in different groups, ranging from receiving guests to guiding them. Tiresome as the work was, the volunteers were still enthusiastic. “If not MWG, I couldn’t have the opportunity to acquaint myself with some many brilliant people, both the sports stars and other staff Included.”, one of them said, “And I’m also delighted to involve myself with such a huge gathering and make my own contributions.”
