Stepping on the long-lost land of hometown, we should take up the steel gun on our shoulders like loyal and brave soldiers, resist the threat of epidemic attack, and guard the homeland where we grew up. Cao Tianlun, a 2017 undergraduate from School of Information Management, responded to the call and actively participated in the prevention and contain of the epidemic in villages and towns after quarantining himself for 14 days. In the eyes of the villagers, the boy who was blushed and naughty has grown into a tough man. He is now a new youth who keeps the country in mind and cares for everyone.
On February 4, Cao Tianlun, who lives in Zhouzhuang Town, Jiangyin City, Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province, learned from his father that the prevention and control work of COVID-19 in the village was short of manpower, so he signed up immediately to join the grassroots volunteer team of this fight. He would not allow himself to stand by in any case. Studying in Central China Normal University, Wuhan has long been a half hometown for him, and he is willing to take on the responsibility of youth and contribute to the anti-epidemic work. On February 5, Cao Tianlun started his work after receiving a promise from the village committee. He was arranged at the Sandun Bridge checkpoint in Zhouzhuang Town, responsible for registering the basic information of the personnel in and out, taking temperature measurements, guiding the outsiders to inquire the action track and handling the pass for the villagers.
During the work of joint prevention and control of epidemic of grass-roots villages and towns, villagers voluntarily sent food, coats and other materials to the staff. Cao Tianlun was deeply touched by these goodwill expressions of support. He said with emotion that many people put down the things they sent and left without leaving their names or phone numbers, and they even didn't have time to express their gratitude.
However, his volunteer work was not smooth sailing. As the measures would make some corresponding adjustments according to the change of the situation, some villagers passing by would fall into a dispute and deadlock because they did not know in time or were unwilling to cooperate. At this time, Cao would patiently explain the necessity and key of registration and persuade them to cooperate with the work. Facing work with many contacts and high risk of infection, he never withdrew. He said it always needed to be done by someone, and it was time to stand in front of the people and take on the defense mission of a Youth League member as much as possible. Every day, he had to get up at about five o'clock and went to the duty place alone. From six o'clock in the morning to three o'clock in the afternoon, he had to work hard for nine hours. However, in the view of this boy, it didn’t matter to be tired at all. It's worthwhile and meaningful for him to do all this with the strong volunteerism in his heart. Cao Tianlun, with a diligent attitude of serving the people and a childlike heart of guarding his home, has the courage to take on the responsibility of the Youth League members, demonstrating the good style of college students in the new era.
"The epidemic will pass. I believe that soon we can go back to Wuhan, we can go to Guizi Mountain, Wuhan University and East Lake to admire the beautiful cherry blossom in warm spring." This voice echoed in Cao Tianlun's heart all the time. It is also the good wishes for Wuhan and the confidence in the country to win fight against the COVID-19 epidemic of every young student who studies in CCNU or in Wuhan.
