After summarizing the past school life of mine, I find that the first class of a new stage is always the most expected one. So naturally, my university life is no exception.
My first class after entering the CCNU was College English FR, given by Jeff, a friendly and patient man. There were mainly 3 aspects that I think really excited me. To begin with, the placement and layout of this classroom was quite different from my high school’s one. Filled with 6 circles of desks, the classroom is equipped with screens on each of its walls, which makes sure every student can see the whole courseware in a comfortable gesture and therefore avoids the shortcoming of lying desks in circles. What is more, when students in one group were seated in a circle, face to face, we felt much more relaxed and therefore got to know each other quickly rather than wasted a lot of time breaking the embarrassing atmosphere.
Secondly, the students in my class are from different schools, some major in Chemistry, some Journalism. Though we major in different areas, we did not feel a bit incomprehensible with each other, instead, we found it meaningful to have a helper in some strange areas of us. From my point of view, that might be the kind of relationship called “We agree to disagree”. It was the common ground that let us get together, while it was the differences that helped us make progress continuously.
Thirdly, the learning style was quite novel. I got a strong feeling of being respected. When Jeff introduced our class’ general situation, he used questions rather than declarative sentences. That is to say, he listened to us first, and then taught us in the way we favored. This democratic teaching style made me feel I was playing the leading role, and therefore be more focused on the class.

“ Life was like a box of chocolates, you never know what you gonna get.” While some good changes have happened, some bigger challenges might still wait for me not far away. New environment brings out new challenges and therefore calls for new breakthroughs. Sincerely hope I can make progress step by step, and be a better man.
