On the morning of April 22, the second "Research Salon" graduate counselor salon of the 2025 spring semester, hosted by the Office of Students Affairs (Graduate School) and organized by the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence Education, was held in Conference Room 7001 of South Lake Comprehensive Building. Professor Luo Heng, a doctoral supervisor from the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence Education, delivered a thematic sharing titled Artificial Intelligence Empowering Academic Research and Writing for Counselors. Attendees included Liang Fangyong, Deputy Party Secretary of the School of History and Culture; Zhuang Jiapeng, Deputy Party Secretary of the School of Computer Science; Wang Li, Deputy Party Secretary of the School of Sociology; Li Na, Deputy Party Secretary of the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence Education; and 27 full-time and part-time counselors from various training units. The event was presided over by Deng Fei, Deputy Party Secretary of the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence Education.

At the beginning of the event, Deng Fei welcomed the participants and emphasized that artificial intelligence technology is reshaping academic research. As practitioners with responsibilities of ideological education and academic innovation, counselors need to actively explore new paths of "technology empowering academia" and jointly build a new ecosystem for intelligent ideological research.

During the thematic sharing session, Professor Luo Heng systematically explained the empowering scenarios and practices of AI technology from the perspective of academic research. He began with an on-site interaction to understand the participants' daily use of AI tools. Taking generative artificial intelligence (GAI) as an entry point, he introduced common GAI tools, discussed the structure and techniques of GAI prompts, and explained their core features and educational applications. When addressing how AI can empower topic selection and help data analysis, he recommended practical tools such as Elicit and ChatPDF, while also analyzing the processes of AI-assisted text coding and sentiment analysis of forum content. Additionally, he demonstrated the use of AI tools to assist in paper revision through a comparison of Chinese and English examples, showing efficient application scenarios of AI tools. Professor Luo Heng then focused on the practical needs of counselors, presenting innovative applications of AI technology in student management, mental health, career guidance, and ideological and political education.

During the discussion session, participants freely exchanged ideas and asked questions enthusiastically. Professor Luo Heng patiently addressed questions such as how to improve individual decision-making and information discernment in the AI era and how to mitigate privacy risks brought by AI. He encouraged counselors to actively experiment with AI tools in their work while also enhancing their ability to discern information.

At the end of the event, Deng Fei concluded by stating that the lecture provided both tool analysis and practical guidance. He encouraged the integration of AI technology into specific scenarios such as academic research and explored new models of "human-machine collaboration" in education while adhering to ethical principles. Through case observations and live demonstrations, the counselors gained a sense of how intelligent technology can enhance their work.
