Visiting Exchange | The People's Armed Forces Department of Nanjing Normal University Conducts Research on National Defense Education at Our University

The Voice of CCNUOn the afternoon of March 14th, Zhou Ya, the Minister of the People's Armed Forces Department of Nanjing Normal University, and her delegation visited our university. They held a meeting with the Student Affairs Department (Graduate Student Affairs Department, People's Armed Forces Department) of the University Party Committee in Conference Room 203 of the Student Activity Center. The meeting was chaired by Li Xianling, the Deputy Director of the Ideological and Political Education Office of the Party Committee Student Affairs Department.



Deputy Director Li Xianling introduced the construction and development of the Student Affairs Department (Graduate Affairs Department and People’s Armed Forces Department) under the Party Committee of our university, and shared some experiences gained in the university’s national defense education efforts. She expressed her anticipation to "proactively reach out" and strengthen exchanges and collaborative learning with sibling institutions, jointly advancing the development of national defense education.



Minister Zhou Ya introduced the composition of the research delegation members and elaborated in detail on the practices and achievements in national defense education at Nanjing Normal University. She shared unique experiences of the university’s People’s Armed Forces Department in institutional setup, faculty development for military theory courses, and curriculum construction. She emphasized that prioritizing national defense education has been a tradition at Nanjing Normal University and expressed her hope to further explore and innovate through this exchange, aiming to develop new distinctive features and highlights in Nanjing Normal University’s national defense education initiatives.



Subsequently, Tian Dong, the director of the Office of the People's Armed Forces Department of our university, made a detailed speech about national defense education, student military training, military theory courses, conscription work, and four aspects of conscription work. He emphasized that the national defense education of our university always adheres to Xi Jinping's thinking on strengthening the military as guidance, thoroughly implements the "National Defense Education Law" and the "Teaching Outline for Military Courses in Ordinary Colleges and Universities", and has formed a work pattern of "system innovation, distinctive characteristics, and remarkable achievements" in national defense education, military training, military theory course construction, and college student conscription work. At the same time, he also hopes to jointly build national defense work with brother colleges and universities in the future, promote resource sharing and mutual learning of experience.



During the subsequent discussion, Minister Zhou Ya affirmed the "1+2" teaching model of our university's military theory courses and expressed intentions to actively draw upon it for reference. Deputy Director Li Xianling provided a detailed overview of our university’s successful experiences in military theory curriculum development and the promotion of national defense education among college students.


Representatives from Nanjing Normal University’s School of Educational Science, School of Journalism and Communication, as well as leaders from our university’s School of Education and School of Journalism and Communication, participated in the symposium. They engaged in in-depth exchanges of experiences on topics such as college student military training and conscription work.


Following the symposium, Minister Zhou Ya and her delegation visited the People’s Armed Forces Department and the university’s military recruitment workstation.



This research symposium not only deepened mutual understanding and friendship between the People’s Armed Forces Departments of both universities but also provided valuable experiences and insights for future national defense education collaboration. We look forward to the two institutions joining hands to forge new glories in national defense education!
