The Voce of CCNU On the morning of March 14, 2025, the second session of the Counselor Salon at Central China Normal University (CCNU) titled "Promoting Education through Water Resources, Achieving Excellence through Good Work—Leading the Development of Morality and Talent Cultivation with First-Class Party Building" was held in Room 8213 on the second floor of Wuhan University's School of Water Resources and Hydropower Engineering. Organized by the Party Committee's Student Affairs Office and hosted by CCNU's School of Mathematics and Statistics, the event featured a keynote speech by Zuo Zhixiang, Deputy Party Secretary of Wuhan University's College of Water Resources, and was chaired by Yang Kejun, Deputy Party Secretary of CCNU's School of Mathematics and Statistics. Over 40 full-time and part-time counselors from both universities attended.
In his opening remarks, Yang Kejun emphasized that 2025 marks CCNU's "Quality Enhancement Year" for student affairs. He stressed that improving work standards requires continuous learning through both "inviting experts in and reaching out for exchanges," noting that this counselor salon represents their first step in expanding learning opportunities beyond CCNU's campus.
Zuo Zhixiang shared her experiences in integrating work practices from three perspectives: the college Party building, graduate student Party building, and her personal work insights. Zuo focused on introducing the Party building system of the School of Water Resources and Hydropower Engineering at Wuhan University, emphasizing one core, two key approaches, three teams, and four major undertakings. She pointed out that the core of the college's Party building work is to strengthen political guidance. The two key approaches for advancing Party building are: firstly, focusing on ideological construction to solidify the foundation of ideals and beliefs, secondly, focusing on organizational construction to strengthen the grassroots battlefront. When introducing the three teams that consolidate the pioneering force in the college, Zuo stated that the School of Water Resources and Hydropower Engineering has built a "pyramid-shaped" pioneer team from the point to the surface, with a strong pioneering spirit. Among them, the Party committee team practices the front-line principle, steering the Party building "wheel"; the Party building team takes the lead in responsibilities, serving as the "vanguard" of Party building; and advanced groups play a demonstrative leading role, striving to be the "main force" of Party building. The college Party committee is committed to four major undertakings: building a top expert team, constructing a large scientific research platform, establishing a broad ideological and political framework, and cultivating talents with a strong sense of mission, all of which continuously guide the high-quality development of the college.
When introducing the graduate student Party building work, Zuo Zhixiang shared typical experiences in six areas: Party membership recommendation and assessment system, the probationary Party member commitment system, as well as innovations in Party branch size, organizational structure, institutional development, activity innovation, integrated media publicity, and model cultivation. In the final part of her sharing, based on her personal work experience, Zuo emphasized that Party building work is rooted in daily efforts and accumulation. It is essential to select and rely on student Party members and cadres, find ways to make Party building "alive," encourage all Party members to be "active". The Party committee of the college should relieve the burden on branch secretaries and ensure the funds for branches.
During the interactive session, participants actively discussed topics such as the standardization of graduate student Party building systems, innovations in undergraduate Party member management systems, and the development of a "one-stop" student community for Party building work.
