In order to further improve the education with warmth, strengthen the construction of the mental health education team of the School of Life Sciences, improve the ability of psychology committee members to carry out mental health education as well as peer counseling in their class, and promote the creation of a warm and accepting class atmosphere, the training camp of Planning skills of 2024 psychological class meeting of the School of Life Sciences was successfully launched in April 2024, in which 18 psychology committee members signed up.
The first training course, "The Planning and Organization of A Psychological Class Meeting" was held at 9 a.m. on April 13th in Room 5401, which was taught by Dong Jiaxin, the head of the Psychological workstation of Shudong and from the Grade 2021. First of all, she used the counter-password game to quickly create a relaxed and active training atmosphere. Then, she introduced how to plan a psychological class meeting from five aspects: cognitive preparation before the psychological class meeting planning, selection and decision of the theme, principles of the design, planning of the activity, implementation of the activity, and excellent cases of the class meeting planning. "Planning is like wearing clothes". An excellent psychological class meeting can help students get emotional support in the group, experience positive relationships, develop adaptive behavior, rebuild rational cognition, and ultimately improve students' mental health literacy.
The second training course, "The Planning and Appreciation of An Excellent Psychological Class Meeting", adopted the method of peer case teaching and invited three winners of the school-level psychological class meeting competition to share excellent cases. Liu Zhenzhen from the School of Life Science, Grade 2021, took "Into Envy" as an example, and mentioned that the psychological class meeting should understand the needs of students. Xie Ruoxing from the School of Life Science, Grade 2022, consulted a large amount of literature to understand the theme more deeply in "Hello Social fear, Goodbye social fear". Wang Haonan from the School of Psychology, Grade 2022, shared "Strike Heartstrings to Relax-Management of Stress", emphasizing that the theme psychology class meeting should be student-centered, and guiding rather than teaching, so that students could feel the warmth in the activity and learn to explore independently. After the two trainings, the students formed their own teams to plan a class meeting on the theme of psychology.
The third training course "The Optimization of psychological theme class meeting planning works" was carried out at 7 p.m. on April 28th in Room 5301, and Yu Xuan, a national second-level psychological consultant, host of the Heart Power Growth studio, and a 2022 counselor from the School of Life Sciences, was invited to teach. In the training, Teacher Yu commented on the six planning works from the aspects of activity theme, activity content, education effectiveness, etc., and demonstrated how to transform students' expectations for the future into the power of growth and real action change in the implementation of the psychological class meeting through live game experience.
At this point, the Training Camp of Planning Skills of 2024 Psychological Class Meeting was successfully concluded. The students said that they gained mental health knowledge in the training camp and learned to plan a theme class meeting to promote students' mental health. They hoped to participate in more similar training and activities in the future to improve their psychological helping ability!
