On January 9th, Wuhan Education TV released the report “Reporters’ Investigation: Why the Teacher Career Is More and More Attractive” in the column of “Education News”. Shao Yiting, a state-funded normal student of Grade 2020 of the School of Mathematics and Statistics of CCNU was interviewed by Wuhan Education TV. The report indicated that in recent years, among the top 30 percent of the students in the college entrance examination of various provinces, half of them have applied for teachers' major. The career of teaching is becoming more and more attractive, and an increasing number of students with high scores choose to apply for teachers' major.
Shao Yiting said she had a dream to be a teacher since she was a child. In the process of growing up, she met lots of nice teachers, which made her yearn for the career even more. In contemporary society, the atmosphere of respecting teachers and valuing education is getting stronger and stronger, and more and more attention to education was paid by the authorities, which also made her more determined to choose the occupation of teacher. Other significant reasons to choose the major included the policies of “Derate and Subsidy”, keeping the posts after graduation, exempting from the Post-graduate examination and so on for State-funded normal students.
The acceptance rate of first choice is high, and the quality of students improves comprehensively
The School of Mathematics and Statistics attaches great importance to the characteristic major training and continuously strengthens the construction of course resources, the construction of cultures and the cultivation of students’ sentiments, highlighting the advantages of the major and the characteristic cultivation system, forming a solid foundation to support the training of outstanding mathematics teachers. The hard work has helped the school get more attention and have more students of great quality. In 2020, the school accepted 349 undergraduates, including 215 state-funded normal students, with the first-choice admission rate up to 96.76%. Among them, Shao Yiting got 639 points and was admitted by our school as her first choice, which was the highest score in CCNU’ admissions of state-funded normal students in Hubei Province.
Fully implement the personnel training, and improve the students’ comprehensive quality
The improvement of student quality is attributed to the rapid development of the school in recent years, which is also the result of the achievements in comprehensive reform.

The School of Mathematics and Statistics has also set up four characteristic talent classes, namely Outstanding Teacher Class, Outstanding Talents Class, Mathematical Physics Direct Doctoral Class, and Mathematical Economics Cross-training Class. The major has smoothly passed the third-level certification of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics Teachers' Major, and has been approved as a first-class undergraduate major, successfully creating two “golden courses” and gaining a lot of teaching achievements. What’s more, the steady and high-quality cultivation brings not only the continuous improvement of the professional quality of students in school, but also the favorable opinions of graduates from employers.
The circulation mode of “excellent students, great disciplines, orderly trainings, more achievements, accumulated resources, strong reputation, and better students" has brought precious opportunities for the improvement of the comprehensive running level of the school.
