On the afternoon of October 18, the welcome show for freshmen of the School of History and Culture of Central China Normal University in 2020 themed with “Going through Thousands of Sails Together, Enjoying the Sunshine after Rain” was successfully held at Huaqing Lecture Hall. Fu Jiaqi and Xie Zichen, counselors of Grade 2020 of the School of History and Culture, Zhao Zheng, headteacher of Class 2003, Xiang Zuojun, headteacher of Class 2004, and Gu Liwei, headteacher of Class 2006 were invited to attend the show. The show was presided over by Yuan Binxin, Pang Jiahao, Yang Tingting and Li Yuhang, freshmen of Grade 2020.
"Enjoying the Sunshine after Rain, Riding the Wind when Blowing". Aimed at demonstrating the colorful university life and expressing the warm welcome to the freshmen while strengthening their sense of belonging and identity to the college, the performance was divided into three parts: "Looking into Your Eyes at a Distance for a Long Time", "Encountering in Golden Autumn" and "Enjoying the Land Filled with Sunshine".
After the warm-up video was played, the welcome ceremony began with the dance "Small Town Ballad". Zhong Xue and Zhao Qing from Qingyi Hanfu Club danced gracefully and elegantly, leading the audience to appreciate the antique style of the ancient cities south of the Yangtze River and making the atmosphere quickly mobilized. With the help of the stage background full of science and technology, a singing performance "Things from the Heaven" by zheng Xinrong and Xie Qihan interpreted the carefree encounter of the world and expressed the joy and affection of meeting the new students of the School of History and Culture. Next came the martial arts Association's performance "Knight-errant's Travel", each movement was vigorous, powerful, clean and agile which fully showed the chivalrous spirit and gallantry contained in Chinese martial arts, and won a blow of applause from the audience.
In the "Encountering in Golden Autumn" section, the Flute Association members played the flute together in "The Beginning". And the melodious sounds fascinated the audience deeply. Xu Ziwei sang "Pear with Snow" beautifully, creating a fresh and aesthetic artistic conception. Wang Kailer and Li Jiujiu's performance "Chasing Han Xin" and "the Heavenly Maids Scatter Blossoms" helped the audience feel the immortal charm of the quintessence of China. Bai Feifei and Tian Bowen chorused the song "Confession Balloon", creating a romantic atmosphere. Then came the series "Childhood Forever" performed by Lin Mianting and Wang Xinyu, which brought back memories of childhood and struck a chord with the audience. They all beat and waved their arms in unison and the scene atmosphere was pushed toward the climax.
The next session was the lottery and the warm-up game "Crossing the River in the Same Boat". The exciting interaction successfully narrowed the distance between freshmen and further invigorated the scene atmosphere. After that, the third part of the show, "Enjoying the Land Filled with Sunshine", began, and Lin Manting's solo "How You Like That" made the atmosphere even better. The recitation of "Ideal" by Ma Binyang, Wang Ziwen and other five students was full of passion, which vividly showed the students' youthful face of sailing and breaking waves with their determination. The ethnic orchestral work "Go to the Street", brought by the School Folk Orchestra, depicted the picture of Yunnan customs with notes. Guo Jinyang and Qu Wanji sang "The Year of innocence", and their tender and delicate singing made the audience spend a quiet and leisurely time.
Finally, the Communist Youth League Committee and the Students' Union of the School of History and Culture presented the song named "Wuhan Ya" for the audience and the welcome show for freshmen ended with an affectionate chorus. Freshman Sun Gongze said with emotion, "The hosts of the ceremony were humorous and the lottery draw game was exciting. All performers performed splendidly. Additionally, not only cool dances and primitive singing styles, but also sweet songs and attractive ensembles, made me crazy. I am willing to express my exclamation for talented students and my gratitude to them for letting me spend a memorable afternoon."
